with friends from the town or surrounding farms in the mid
1800's at the end of Harvest to celebrate the season the the

Abraham Lincoln in 1863, but celebrations of thanks were
common for many years before and even lobbied for by Mrs.

Candlelight Tour
Step back in time as you enter the property along the brick pathway with candles lighting your way to the front door. Then as you step inside the home of Robert and Rebecca Newell feel the warmth of the holidays surround you. Living history interpreters occupy the rooms and talk of days long ago while preparing for the annual Christmas festivities. Join them around the piano as they sing Christmas Carols, then head to the kitchen for a cup of hot apple cider and a fresh baked cookie. Oregon State Society Daughters of the American Revolution Chapters decorate the house and fill it full of Christmas Cheer! They ask that you vote on your favorite while attending this event. Come to Champoeg and usher in the Christmas Season at Newell House! You will be happy you did! This is not an event you will want to miss! Entrance to this event is $4.00 for adults, $3.00 for Seniors, AAA and DAR members and $2.00 for children 12 and under. |
