Celebrate Oregon's Old Fashioned 4th!

Do you miss the patriotic 4th of July celebrations of yesteryear?  Then this event is for you!  Join us on the front lawns of Historic Newell House Museum at Champoeg State Heritage Area from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.   Bring your own picnic supper, blanket to sit on (or lawn chairs) and your enthusiasm!

Hear patriotic speeches; reading of the Declaration of Independence; have the kids participate in the Oregon History Bee; listen to festive patriotic music; and sing the National Anthem and God Bless America!  Come in period clothes if you have them, as we will celebrate the Sesquicentennial 1859 style!

The museum will be open to the public for $4.00 for adults; $3.00 for DAR and Seniors;  and $2.00 for children!  The celebrations on the lawn are free, however a voluntary donation would be greatly appreciated.

You never know, you may even experience cameo appearances by historic Oregon figures!

Newell House will hold it's 5th annual Benefit Auction on September 12, 2009 from 2 pm to 6 pm.  This year's theme is "A Riverboat Casino" Event.  Newell House grounds will be decorated to look like a Riverboat Casino with all the games you like to play!

Your ticket purchase price of $25.00 per person includes funny money for playing the casino games, plus hearty appetizers, a glass of wine or beer; and entertainment for the afternoon!  Try your hand at the games, or simply participate in the annual silent auction.  There will be raffles and bingo and more!  We thank all of our sponsors for their continued support through the donation of auction items!
